Areas We Cover

Automatic lessons in 51 areas of East London and the City, from £37 an hour, with your instructor collecting you from home, work or college.

Wharf Driving School covers 51 East London areas with automatic driving lessons from £37/hr (10 hours £350). Instructors collect you from home, work or college anywhere in the areas below, and prepare you on the routes used by your nearest DVSA test centre: Wanstead, Goodmayes or Chingford.

How the Coverage Works

There is no office to visit and no branch nearest to you. Your instructor drives to wherever your day starts, at home, at work, at school or at college, anywhere inside the 51 areas listed below. The pick-up is not charged for and there is no joining fee, which is why this page is a list of postcodes rather than an address.

Every card links to all seven services. In the ten areas we added most recently, the IG and RM postcodes out towards Redbridge, Barking and Dagenham, motorway and prestige lessons run from the main service pages rather than a separate local one; everything else has its own page for that area. Automatic lessons are the standard weekly hour, £37, or £350 for a block of ten. The beginner course is that same hour arranged for someone who has never sat in the driver's seat. A refresher is £41 an hour, and most returning drivers book somewhere between four and ten hours rather than thirty, because they already hold a licence and have simply stopped using it. An intensive course compresses the hours into a few weeks, from £1,229 for 30 hours or £1,580 for 40. A mock test is a full rehearsal marked the way the real one is, £50 with a debrief. Motorway lessons and prestige car lessons are priced on enquiry.

There are two sensible ways into the list. If you already know what you want, go straight to the service line on your area's card. If you are still working out what you need, open the area hub itself, which is the heading at the top of each card: those pages cover the local roads that take the most practice, where we collect from, how the hours tend to go in that particular place, and what each service costs there.

Some of the areas below overlap, and that is deliberate. Tower Hamlets spans E1 to E14, so it contains Whitechapel, Bow, Poplar and Limehouse, each of which has its own page. The same goes for Newham and E16 against Canning Town and Custom House. Pick whichever page names the place you would say out loud if someone asked where you live. The lessons are identical either way.

Lessons run seven days a week, 7am to 10pm, bank holidays included, so early starts before work and late finishes after a shift both work. Every instructor is a DVSA-approved ADI with an enhanced DBS check. Payment is cash or bank transfer after the lesson; we do not take cards.

Each card below is one area. The heading links to that area's hub page; the lines beneath it go straight to a single service in that place. Postcodes are given so you can find yourself quickly rather than by memory of borough boundaries.
