How accessible our website and our driving lessons are.
Last updated: 13 August 2026
This statement covers two things: how accessible our website is, and how accessible our driving lessons are. We would rather be straightforward about what we have done and what we cannot promise than claim a standard we have not had independently checked.
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. That is the target we build to and test against as we make changes to wharfdrivingschool.co.uk.
Our website has not been audited by an independent accessibility specialist, and we hold no accessibility certification. We are telling you our target, not a verified conformance level, and we are not claiming that the site fully meets WCAG 2.2 AA.
Known limitations are likely to exist. Areas where problems are most plausible include the embedded Google map on our home and contact pages, which is provided by a third party and which we do not control; and any content we have added recently that has not yet been checked as thoroughly as the rest. If you find something that does not work for you, we would genuinely rather hear about it than not know.
If any part of this website is difficult or impossible for you to use, please tell us. Include the page address, what you were trying to do, and what happened, along with the device, browser or assistive technology you were using if you know it.
Phone 07706 876263 or email info@wharfdrivingschool.co.uk. We aim to reply within 5 working days, to tell you whether we can fix the problem and by when, and to give you the information you were after by another route in the meantime. If you cannot use the website to book, you can arrange everything by phone.
We teach in automatic cars only. That matters more than it might sound. Removing the clutch and gear changes removes a real physical and cognitive barrier for a lot of people: pupils with limited movement or strength in the left leg, pupils with joint or nerve conditions, pupils who find the extra co-ordination overwhelming, and pupils who simply learn better when there is less happening at once. Plenty of people who were told they would struggle to learn to drive get on well in an automatic.
We are also a service-area business with no public premises, so there is no office you need to travel to, and no building to get into. Your instructor comes to you and the lesson starts from your home, workplace or college, anywhere in the 51 areas we cover. Lessons run from 7am to 10pm, seven days a week, so a time that suits your energy levels or your medication is usually findable.
Please talk to us about any disability, health condition, learning difference or additional need when you first get in touch, and again if anything changes. It is not an awkward conversation and it is not a test. Knowing in advance lets us match you with a suitable instructor and plan sensibly. Things it is worth mentioning include:
You are responsible for telling the DVLA about any medical condition that affects your ability to drive, and for holding a valid provisional licence. We can point you in the right direction, but we cannot do that part for you.
We want to be honest rather than encouraging. We cannot guarantee vehicle adaptations that we do not have, such as hand controls, left-foot accelerators, steering aids or a wheelchair-accessible vehicle. If you need an adapted vehicle, please ask us before booking and we will tell you plainly whether we can help. Where we cannot, we will say so rather than take a booking we cannot deliver, and we will do our best to point you towards someone who can.
We also cannot guarantee that a particular instructor will be available at a particular time, although we will try to keep you with the same instructor where continuity matters to you.
Nobody is charged more, put to the back of the queue or turned away because of a disability or an additional need. That commitment sits alongside our Equality & Diversity Policy. If you feel we have fallen short, our Complaints & Refund Policy explains how to raise it.
We review this statement when we change the website or the way we deliver lessons, and we update it if a limitation is fixed or a new one comes to light. Changes are published on this page with a revised "last updated" date.
