What the Examiner Marks

Our mock test mirrors the real Goodmayes test exactly, marked to the official DVSA sheet so you know precisely where you stand:

  • an eyesight check and two 'show me, tell me' questions
  • one of the four possible manoeuvres
  • around 20 minutes of independent driving on a sat-nav
  • faults logged as minor, serious or dangerous — a pass means zero serious or dangerous and 15 or fewer minors

We run it on a genuine examiner-style route around Manchester Road and the Goodmayes area, at the kind of time your real test is likely to be booked, so the traffic and conditions feel true to the day.

Docklands — Insider Tips

  • get comfortable with the single-carriageway loop of Westferry Road and Manchester Road that rings the Isle of Dogs, with constant DLR crossings and dock bridges
  • rehearse the specific fault that catches people here: stopping in the High Road box junctions and clipping the timed bus lanes near Seven Kings
  • practise hill starts and manoeuvres around the residential streets off Goodmayes Road, where cars are parked on both sides
  • Watch the controlled parking zones and bus-lane timings around Westferry Road — they catch people out

Know Before You Go

The pressure is the point. Driving the full routine — manoeuvre, independent driving and all — under genuine test conditions once means the real day feels like familiar ground rather than a leap into the unknown. And around Docklands, you'll practise it where it counts — on Marsh Wall and the streets near Millwall Outer Dock.

Practising the Goodmayes Routes from Docklands

Getting from Docklands to Goodmayes is part of the training. You'll rehearse the approach via East Ferry Road, then the routes examiners actually use.

On the routes themselves, routes head out along Goodmayes Road and Green Lane into Seven Kings, taking in Barley Lane and South Park Drive, with manoeuvres on the parked-up residential streets nearby.

Most marks here are lost to creeping into the A118 and Seven Kings box junctions, and edging into timed bus lanes; we target it relentlessly, including on Docklands's own East Ferry Road.

Local Pick-Up in Docklands

Docklands is well connected by the DLR across the Isle of Dogs, but there's no substitute for being able to drive yourself. We pick up right across E14 — from Crossharbour DLR, Mudchute DLR and South Quay DLR and the residential streets around them — at a time that fits work, college or family. We cover the streets between Docklands and Canary Wharf and Poplar, so your lessons can begin wherever your day does.

The Faults That Catch Docklands Learners Out

In Docklands, most avoidable faults trace back to one thing: the single-carriageway loop of Westferry Road and Manchester Road that rings the Isle of Dogs, with constant DLR crossings and dock bridges. At Goodmayes, the recurring fault is creeping into the A118 and Seven Kings box junctions, and edging into timed bus lanes — so we drill exactly that. Watch the box junctions and bus lanes — they catch out more Goodmayes candidates than the manoeuvres do.

We rehearse manoeuvres around the residential streets off Goodmayes Road, where cars are parked on both sides until they feel routine, then put it all together on full mock runs before your test.
