One warning: the island has no dual carriageway, and Goodmayes routes use the A12 and A13. That gap has to be closed deliberately, usually in the second week, so we plan at least three long sessions that leave the island rather than hoping it happens along the way.
How the Driving Works in Docklands
Reversing and parking go in on Spindrift Avenue and Glengall Grove, wide enough that you are judging the car instead of fighting the road. The dock bridges along Preston's Road train low-speed observation all week, since something is always stopping in front of you. Because Goodmayes routes use dual carriageway the island cannot supply, three of your days leave it entirely.
The final sessions run the full distance to Goodmayes and back, roughly half an hour each way. That is where your standard gets measured, not on the Isle of Dogs loop, which by then ought to feel unremarkable. Everything before it was preparation for those drives.

Break by Millwall Outer Dock. The afternoon leg goes north to South Quay and back. Two reverses on Spindrift Avenue go in at the end, while you are tired.
