Working Up to Test Standard in Shadwell
Manoeuvres go into the quiet turnings around Sutton Street and Bigland Street, where you can reverse without a bus arriving behind you. Emerging gets drilled on its own, because the Cable Street track carries riders in both directions and one glance is not enough. Butcher Row down onto The Highway then builds the speed judgement needed later in the block.
By the closing sessions you should be driving the Wanstead routes with no prompting, about twenty-five minutes north of Watney Street. The last run back down Commercial Road is deliberately ordinary, because a standard that only appears when someone is watching is not a standard at all.
What Changes in Shadwell
Pick the wrong lane on The Highway heading east and you are committed into the Limehouse Link with nowhere to change your mind until it spits you out by the Isle of Dogs. Four hours in the Cable Street one-way grid is a stream of small decisions, and by the fourth hour candidates start dropping the second look across the two-way cycle track. Sessions here are broken deliberately, usually with twenty minutes off the road near Watney Market, rather than pushed through.
