Test standard here means taking three roundabouts in a row without rushing any of them, and the Goodmayes routes add the other half of it, box junctions at Seven Kings that have to be left clear before you enter. Most pupils book an assessment drive over both before anything else.
What Changes in Barking
The roads down towards Barking Riverside are newer than the maps in most people's heads, and often newer than the one in the car.
Junctions there have been built and rebuilt as the housing has gone up, so a route you drove two years ago can now put you on a different arm entirely. The habit worth rebuilding is reading the signs on the approach instead of trusting your memory of the layout.

The fault that costs most candidates there is entering a box junction at Seven Kings before the exit is clear, so we spend real time on holding back at the yellow lines rather than creeping with the queue.

We drive out along Ripple Road and back until the layout stops surprising you, then bring the same reading habit into the older roundabouts around the town centre.
Can I have my driving assessed against test standard in Barking?
